| Summary, etc. | Drawing from social science and non-social disciplines, different wisdom traditions of the world, as well as the vast experience of the author, this book presents an in-depth and multi-dimensional exploration of the subjects of peace, reconciliation and forgiveness at many levels of conflict ranging from the intrapersonal, interpersonal all the way to the international and ecological. It examines the implications of this framework of peace and reconciliation on governance, economic growth, our understanding of who we are as human beings on this earth, as well as on our efforts to work for peace in conflict situations. Concepts such as politics and economics of reconciliation, reconciliation with self and nature are explored with pointers on how to move towards those goals. The author of the book is Professor of International Mediation and Reconciliation at the Center of Justice and Peacebuilding, Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was former Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Institute of Conflict Analysis, George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia. For the past 35 years, he has been involved in political as well as community mediation in many countries torn by civil war in Africa, Latin America and Asia. The author has also been engaged in training UN and African Union Diplomats in Negotiation, Mediation and Reconciliation as a Senior Fellow in the United Nations Institute for Training and Research team. He has served as a consultant for the United Nations, African Union, European Union and many other global, continental and regional organizations. He has written many books and scholarly articles and taught at several universities in different parts of the world. |
