500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note This comprehensive work, a Puritan Classics publication, contains An Exposition of Ephesians, Chapter 1 to 2:10 by Thomas Goodwin, An Exposition of Ephesians, Chapter 2:11 to 6:18 by Paul Bayne, and Exposition of [Chapter 6] Verses 19 through 24 by John Calvin. Thomas Goodwin, an English Puritan theologian and preacher, has commonly been acknowledged as one of the most brilliant lights of the whole puritanical movement. His dogmatic treatises abound in valuable exegetical insights, and his expositions are rich mines for doctrinal discussions. As any reader will quickly observe, Thomas Goodwin was a stanch and consistent Calvinist, and should not be confused with his able Arminian contemporary, John Goodwin. Paul Bayne is exegetically useful, homiletically superb, and spiritually delightful, with hundreds of excellent and easily adaptable sermon outlines in his headings and sub-headings. He was a renowned and revered scholar who successfully lectured at St. Andrew s Cathedral and tutored at famed Christ College, Cambridge. John Calvin, regarded as one of the Reformation's best interpreters of scripture, was a principal figure in the development of the system of Christian theology later called Calvinism. These writings are presented in the form of individual sermons, accounting for over 1500 pages.
